The wood is hard and the tip grips well. I walk mostly on sidewalks and asphalt through our hilly town. When our police chief saw me using my walking stick this week, he said that using a walking stick was an excellent idea for safety as well as comfort.
Although not pictured this way on Amazon, my walking stick does have a flower carved on it as mentioned in other reviews. Okay for me but definitely feminine.
I am 5'7" and the stick is a little tall for me but not uncomfortably. I have been lame since childhood and used a cane for years but thought I would try a stick for hills and rough terrain. I'm sold on these sticks.
My only complaint is that my stick isn't round. The branch is round on one side and then tapers on the other. The narrowed, tapered half doesn't fit comfortably in my palm and I have to rotate the stick all the time. When I can, I will probably buy a more expensive stick that is rounded and more comfortable, but this is a good beginning.

Beautiful finish and light weight, very good price and fast shipping. Seller need to describe it better. I bought it as gift to my husband, but the stick came with a carved flower not described. (too "girly") So I keep it for me and bought another for my husband from another seller.

After reading the reviews on this walking stick, I ordered one from my Mother, who has balance problems (83 years old), one for me, and one for my wife. I am elated with the walking stick! They are pretty, light, strong, the right height (55"), and not too thick. A pretty flower is engraved on the upper handle. The price is really great and the shipping was very fast. I am ordering two more for a couple of my friends. A Great Stick! You will love it!

I ordered one of these for my wife but liked it so much I got one for myself and some for our guests to use too.
I was very surprised with the quality (ours did have the flower carved in them but it is not overly obvious) and the sturdiness for the weight. The price is amazing. We will be using these for years on our light hikes in the mountains here in the Northwest.
