Horrible customer supportAug 21, 2010 I wish I could rate this as a zero. After reviewing a number of the comments here, I was still stupid enough to order it. I read many of the "tips" that others provided for installing the Flowlink, and could only get it to work once to down load two training sessions. After calls and emails to Polar customer support, as well as attempting to correspond to the blog moderator on the Polar site, I have given up and am returning it.

works well.....Aug 21, 2010 After reading reviews I hesitated before finally purchasing the flowlink. As a MAC buff, I was disappointed that it didn't work with a MAC unless the MAC is in virtual PC mode. It works well with a PC (XP) with downloaded polar software. The compatible HRM -- mine is an FT7 -- is placed upside down in the receiver, the software is activated, popups appear, choices are made re data to be uploaded, and workout data is uploaded with options for adding more workout info and notes. Very nice system.
Works greatAug 18, 2010 I had to adjust my Avast firewall before it would transmit but I don't guess that could be blamed on the Flowlink. Once I got the firewall adjusted it worked like a charm.
Necessity, no. Convenient, absolutely!Aug 13, 2010 Following other reviewers tips, I had zero problems downloading the device driver from Polar, and installation.
(I run Windows Vista)
Including opening the package, downloading drivers and installation it took under five minutes until my FT40 was uploading the data.
The FlowLink is absolutely not a necessity, as one can manually key in all the data.
I am just too lazy, so this thing is perfect.
The cord is short, at 50 Centimeters right to the tip of the USB insert.
Oh well life is short too, too short to spend typing out all the data from my workouts ;-)
5 Stars performs exactly as advertised.
I will update this review if I encounter any issues within a reasonable time frame.
Just cannot say anything bad enough about Polar supportAug 02, 2010 I don't know how to find the words to say something unpleasant enough about Polar and their total lack of customer support. If you search the web, you'll find that many, many people completely fail to get this Polar Flowlink device to connect to their computers. The most common error is that Windows will merely say that it is an unrecognized USB device. Polar, responding on multiple sites, is totally unhelpful. They only suggest plugging it in to a different USB port (doesn't work), with a USB extension (doesn't work), or through a USB hub (doesn't work) and insist that it doesn't need a driver. For many of us (not all), the device is a completely useless fifty dollar doorstop, and there is no recourse through Polar. I will never buy another Polar product again.
