2Well built. Thought it was 2 for $20May 06, 2010
Have yet to use the pole but it will likely meet my needs and then some. I wanted two poles which is what I thought I was getting for $[...]. Should have read more carefully but it's only 1 pole. not the screaming deal I thought while buying.

Update: I changed my stars to two. After a 3 day, 30 mile 4000 foot climb and decent trip these poles need improvements. Issues are as follows
1. One pole keeps going from spring to locked on decent (all on its own)
2. Plastic handle will chew up your hand - star graphics become hard on your hands as does the fitting around the light
3. Rubber tips came off within the first day of climbing
4. Straps are harsh - they seem helpful but will chew your wrist raw

5walking stickApr 30, 2010
I love this walking stick. Very helpful on rough terrain and having a choice of handles was very handy. I used both, depending on the angle we were hiking. One caution: the rubber tip comes off easily so stuff something in with it to make it a tight fit. Will use this allot.Kaito BT409 Anti-Shock Hiking Pole with 9-LED Flashlight

4Collapsible Walking Stick Does the JobFeb 22, 2010
I found the previous reviews helpful in making this purchase so want to thank those reviewers. As stated in another review, this stick does not come with instructions, and it did take me a while to figure it all out, especially since it is my first walking stick. Re the light, I take the batteries out when I'm not using it as the light does tend to come on on its own occasionally. I hiked up Diamond Head crater and back with out losing the rubber tip; I think it's a matter of just making sure that it is put on firmly. For traveling, once collapsed and the light folded in, it fit perfectly in my carry-on suitcase that meets the airline maximum measurement requirements. I bought this stick for general hiking, and it has served its purpose well, so I think, for the price, it's a great buy.

4Hiking Pole CommentsFeb 17, 2010
I am a mechanical engineer by profession, and found that the quality of the design for this hiking pole was far better than I imagined, especially for the price. The locking mechanism allows for a completely custom height, and is very sturdy. I also wanted a small storage size, and this pole fits very nicely into my 22 inch carry on bag, when placed diagonally in the bag. The overall quality and function is much more than expected and when the locking mechanism is used properly on each of the legs, it workd very nicely. Oh, the flashlight is a joke, but the housing is part of the handle and can be set in either a parallel position or 90 degrees to the handle and offers additional support when needed to the hand. Be sure to wear hiking gloves.
